Channel's Haropa triple-port complex voted Best Seaport in Europe

THE French port complex of HAROPA that groups together the ports of Le Havre, Rouen and Paris has been voted by readers of the Cargonews Asia newspaper the Best European Seaport of 2013.

This marks the third year in a row that Haropa has received the accolade. It was selected out of eight major European ports vying for the title, including Antwerp, Hamburg and Rotterdam.

Some 18,000 readers took part in the poll that closed in March, with among them importers-exporters, freight forwarders, logisticians and shipping lines present in Asia (China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, South Korea and Malaysia).

The award was presented at a ceremony in Beijing by John Cheetham, Asia Pacific regional commercial manager of IAG Cargo to Christophe Cheyroux, Greater China representative for Haropa in the presence of the major Asian stakeholders.

"I wish to thank all Asian actors of the shipping and logistics world who made the choice, for the third year running, to reaffirm their confidence to us and thus prove that we bring a real added value to our customers throughout the world," said Herve Martel, chairman of the management board of the Grand Port Maritime du Havre and Haropa vice-chairman, at the awards ceremony.
