NYK raises donations for victims of Sichuan's April 20 earthquake

JAPANESE shipping group NYK has launched a campaign to help those directly affected by the massive earthquake in China's Sichuan province on April 20 by collecting and matching donations from executives and employees across its entire group.

The company expressed in a release its deep compassion for those harmed by the natural disaster and hopes for a quick recovery in the affected areas.

The good works are being conducted through the NYK Group-JPF Joint Aid Supplies Transportation Projects which the transportation group established with international humanitarian aid organisation Japan Platform (JPF) in 2004, to support the quick recovery of areas impacted by disasters and provide free ocean transport upon request by JPF.

"In the hopes of aiding victims of disasters through our supportive action, NYK will continue its efforts to be proactively involved in contributing to society as a good corporate citizen," the group said.
