Truck driver stopped at HK border with 430,000 illicit cigarettes

 TRUCK driver has been charged with smuggling HK$1.1 million (US$140,000) in contraband cigarettes at Man Kam, one of four control points between Hong Kong and the mainland, reports Hong Kong Government Information Services.

The 48-year-old man concealed 430,000 cigarettes within 72 boxes mix-loaded with other goods. The vehicle's driver had declared 463 assorted goods when Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department stopped it at the checkpoint.
